Monoplegia and Muscle Atrophy by Multiple Myeloma - A Clinical Study on One Case of Conservative Treatment -

Abstract

|
Objectives: This 55 years old Korean female noticed sudden occurred monoplegia on the left leg. MRI finding shows that spinal cord compressed by intradural involvement of multiple myeloma at thoracolumbar and cauda-equina lesion. We have been experienced one case of monoplegia induced by spinal cord involvement of Multiple Myeloma. So, we would introduce the clinical report about it.
Methods: We treated her with Acupuncture, Electro-acupuncture, Herbal medication and Physical Therapy. We observed the change between before and after treatment through manual motor test, active ROM(Range Of Movement), Fugl-Myer Score and measurement of leg circumference.
Results & Conclusions: For 3 months treatment, she has been much improved that can be performed independent daily life. Active ROM can be performed at full range. Fugl-Myer Score is increased from 2 to 10. Muscle atrophy of affected leg is improved that Circumference of both Leg is almost same. Compared with result of established paper about muscle atrophy with electrical stimulation or exercise, the result of this case is more effective. So we report one case of Monoplegia and Muscle atrophy induced by spinal cord involvement of Multiple Myeloma.
